Canada Day Memories and Celebrations

Hey everyone, I just wanted to wish you all a happy Canada Day! I hope you enjoyed your long weekend. In honor of the day, I wanted to relate a few memories of this special day that stands out in my mind.

Canada Day with The Tragically Hip

Happy Canada Day

One of the best rock shows I was lucky enough to attend was July 1, 2004, at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Toronto. A day forever seared in my memory, the Tragically Hip were firing on all cylinders and played into the night. The show finished off with a fireworks show over the boys playing, “Blow at High Dough.” I was blessed enough to see the Hip about 12 times over the years, but this show is one that stands out.

Closing the show with a classic!

Canada Day at the Cottage

While I was growing up, Canada Day at the cottage was always something to look forward to. Getting together with cousins and friends to light off fireworks, swim, eat ice cream, and climb trees made the days feel like they would never end. Campfires at night were the cherry on top.

Canada Day on Lake Ontario

For an afternoon on the long weekend in 2015 I was lucky enough to join my good friend John on his sailboat for a day on the water. It was a lot of fun to learn some real sailing tricks from a seasoned professional. We really got the boat moving! I don’t have any shots from that particular trip, but did manage to pull one from shortly after when we were out again.
